Friday Food Porn #3: Tasty Disasters

3:1 sweet to savory ratio. Yup, I like me a sweet breakfast. And sweet snacks. Seriously, if I could, I would have a dessert like breakfast & dessert after both lunch & dinner.

Sadly, I can’t, even when they’re healthy desserts.

I’m usually pretty careful about reading recipes and rereading to make sure I’ve got the ingredients right. So why I used 3 eggs instead of the 2 called for by this recipe (the heading is the link to it) I have no idea. Oh wait — sleep deprivation.

So they didn’t hold together well. Donut pieces.

I considered making donut balls (add nut butter to squished up donuts & roll into balls; I did that once with a pan of brownies gone wrong & it was so right). But then I’d probably eat too much at one time.

They were still tasty & hit the spot after my swim.

Another tease for the book review I’m really hoping to get out this week. Course I was hoping to get it out last week, too, & that obviously didn’t happen.

Really tasty!

I wasn’t actually that hungry when I got up. So after a little lap time with Giz, I took the dogs out for a walk while it was still cool. By the time we got back I was starting to get hungry, but I needed to feed Gizmo & the dogs.

By the time I started in on this recipe (link is the heading), I was starving. Then the recipe wouldn’t load. I thought it was a sign I should eat the healthy crepes I spend so much time making the previous day, but no, dammit, I wanted a brownie for breakfast!

I rebooted my ipad and the page finally loaded. And then I saw it was supposed to be baked! Well, I made it & I nuked it & it came out just fine.

And speaking of healthy crepes . . . I have made these crepes from Flavilicious Cooking (no affiliate), only it was Skinnylicious when I bought it. I highly recommend it – almost every recipe I have tried was delicious & the real test: mikey (that would be my husband – no his name isn’t mike) liked it.

These aren’t difficult to make, but making crepes are time consuming. I was making them to have for breakfast the next day and then I decided on the brownie batter breakfast bake above instead. Go figure.

They’re called cashew crepes because they are made with cashew flour, which you can find at Trader Joe’s.

I filled mine with nut butter and chocolate this particular morning. Of course. With a banana on the side.

  1. Nom Nom that breakfast donut looks amazing…Sometimes the breakfast fails are actually usually my favorite. And they are also the ugliest, but somehow the most delicious! 🙂
