Runfessions, End of Year 2015

I was so proud of myself for keeping my running journal up for more than just a few months, and it has come in really handy too: how many miles did I run? What exercises did I do after the last run? When was the last time I ran on the treadmill?

Today I’m joining up with Marcia at Marcia’s Healthy Slice to share my runfessions.

A mostly used 2015 running journal

I runfess . . .
I really let my running journal slide over October & November! I didn’t stop journaling completely, but a lot of runs didn’t make it in there until weeks later.

I got better in December. But now I have to go back and at least partially fill in the blanks. I can get mileage and pace from my Garmin, but who the heck knows which shoes I wore?

I runfess . . .
To getting less hygienic the last few months.

Often I am feeding the animals after a run, then making dinner, and by the time all that is done, I simply don’t want to shower. So I don’t. I’ll sponge off, but I really do need that shower.

Sorry, hubby. I think he’s beginning to get used to salty Judy, as I wrote about in 5 Reasons I am Grateful to My Husband yesterday.

A peaceful run to the glow of Christmas lights

I runfess . . .
That this Jewish girl has found running through the neighborhood Christmas lights oddly soothing and relaxing.

The first time was an accident — I just misjudged when the sun would be going down.

The second time was on purpose. I’m already plotting to do this Christmas eve if it’s not raining (which it might be).

I runfess . . .
That sometimes I run out of time to shower because I get on the computer (like now) and then just want to finish up one more thing and then it’s late and I hate to blow dry my hair, it looks much better if it air dries, and it’s too late to wash my hair because it takes too long to dry.

People think I’m not vain because I don’t color my hair. Think again!

Except now, as I write this on Wednesday, I’m off to shower because yes, I am as vain as the next person, and tomorrow is my Weight Watchers meeting plus I have another appointment and I ran this morning so I really need that shower!

Yes! I’m going!

Wouldn’t you like to get some runfessions off your mind? Come join us

  1. I’m guilty of being a Salty Ho. I’ll come back from a weekend morning run (or ride) and then get busy doing stuff around the house. My kids will tell me I stink! I do eventually get to the shower — but it might be that evening! There is something magical about running in the dark with the Christmas lights aglow. I’m doing it in the wee morning hours when there is not a sound either. Love it. If I could just get everybody to turn them on.

  2. I know I would never have time to write in a journal (besides I delete my runs as soon as I am done). I barely have time to blog.

I shower every morning before I go to work. That worked great when I used to run in the morning. My laziness has forced me to run after work. So I don’t shower until the next morning. Fortunately I don’t sweat a lot (at least my hubby hasn’t complained that I smell.) I only wash my hair once a week because it takes so long to dry. It’s thick so I don’t think it mattes. If it looks like crap, someone should tell me so….

  3. I love to run and looks at the lights. That’s why Washington Park is now my favorite place to run after work. See you later!

  4. LOVE my running journal and it is one thing I faithfully look at / write in every day. I usually shower but can skip washing my hair. Depends on how much I sweat and what I have afterwards…

  5. I wish I wasn’t so freaking tired in the evenings as I’ll bet the Christmas light runs are awesome! Sometimes my post-run foam rolling doesn’t happen cuz I’m distracted by social media. Thanks for linking up!
