#holottarest:12/5-12/11 Weekly Wrap

This might just be my shortest weekly wrap ever. Because basically, there’s almost nothing to report. I came home late Monday night last week and by Tuesday I was running a low grade fever.

Fair warning: a little less conversation and a #holottapictures

I am still linking up with the Weekly Wrap from Holly @ Hohoruns and Tricia @ Misssipppiddlin, although should you join a linkup to support active women when you’ve been anything but?

Running updates

First year I took photos during the race; didn’t really work so well

Saturday

Mr. Judy tried to call me on it. I couldn’t walk the dogs, but I could go run a fun run? If it had been two days earlier, I would not have done it. But after about 36 hours of almost complete rest, I was feeling better (if not good). Anyway, runners understand. At the beginning of the week I was sure it was going to be my first DNS.

Darlene said I was crazier than her. I don’t think that’s true — I’m pretty sure I’m never going to finish a race with a broken foot.

I always enjoy this “race” (I use that term very loosely), and it’s the last one on my race calendar, which is appropriate, because it’s called Last Run (you can read last year’s recap here).

I ran it with a friend, we took our sweet time with lots of chatting and stops to take photos, and I felt fine. And I still feel “fine” (not exactly 100%, still, but certainly better than Thursday). I definitely don’t regret running it.

Favorites of the week
I’ll leave you with some photos from the week, which are heavily slanted towards the furkids:

#holotta togetherness
I’m hiding out behind Giz
Getting really comfy
Furkids basking in sunshine
Capitol and Christmas tree
A boy & his dog II (I have a picture like this with Chester)

And that’s a wrap

This week I am also linking up with the Sunday Fitness & Food Linkup brought to you by Ilka @ Ilka’s Blog and Angela @ Marathons & Motivation.

Let’s get the conversation started:

What’s your favorite holiday themed run?

Do you dress up for it?

What temperature would you draw the line at racing?

    1. I know, only other runners get it! I got right back to resting yesterday, and I don’t feel worse.

I do have to be careful, I’ve had this crud in the past and relapsed, but I think I’m on the mend. Just still very tired. Luckily I don’t have a lot on my plate right now — finally!

  1. Hope you are feeling better. Love to see the photos of Bandit. He seems to be adjusting really well.
Not much running for me, it was too cold in Maine and I was not equipped. Currently in a hotel, so the treadmill it will be tomorrow.

    1. Bandit is extremely happy that almost all the beds are now available to him. 🙂

I am feeling better; thanks. Not 100%, but better. I’ll probably try an easy run tomorrow. Although I still have to drag myself out and do some grocery shopping (my husband has been kind enough to pick up a few things here & there).

  2. I always do a holiday run, and I always dress for it…but this year there were only two races (one I just learned of after the fact), and both were on the same day. I had a family Christmas party scheduled for the same day, but it got post-poned at the last minute. So, no holiday racing this year, but I did do a short “virtual” run of my own in the appropriate clothing. You do what you gotta do. Glad you’re feeling better!

    1. My cough isn’t too bad, just a little congestion now and very, very tired. Luckily I can take a #holotta rest right now. 🙂

Hope you feel better soon! Ice is the worst. 😦 It’s why I often end up on the treadmill in the winter.

  3. If you had to be sick. This was the week. Hope you feel better soon. And glad you enjoyed the race. It was a lot of fun. My legs felt tired & stiff for the first 2 miles (the cold or the lack of warm up or maybe the 20 miles I had run Sat-Mon) and as soon as I got it together, it was over.

  4. My favorite holiday themed race was while we were in FL (they changed the date from previous years). It is through Fantasy in Lights in Callaway Gardens. I’m glad to hear you are feeling better. I fought a little something after I returned home. My dogs LOVED the gingerbread treat (I threw away the wrapper so I’m guessing here) you sent them. We haven’t tackled the bone yet. Thanks for linking, Judy!

    1. So glad the dogs enjoyed it. Boy, those pup pies (it’s made in a town not too far from here) would last my guys for like a year!

Actually Bandit still has a very iffy stomach so we have to be careful what we feed him.

A run through holiday lights AND a garden must be so lovely!

  5. Ha I love the word twist from HoLottaFun! What? Darlene called YOU Crazy, no way! I hate you were under the weather after our trip! It does throw the body out of wack sometimes which leaves us easy prey on colds and such.
This race looks fun I have never done a night race around Christmas but I know I’d enjoy it and yes I would dress up! Total requirement!

    1. No, I don’t dress up (but obviously Darlene does). And I know you would. 🙂 And a lot of people do. Lots of jingle bells. It’s a lot of fun!

I don’t think the trip had a lot to do with getting sick, I’ve been kind of running on empty for many months now, but I was able to get lots of rest last week.

Yeah, I know, that was the pot calling the kettle black with her calling ME crazy. 🙂

  6. Oh I just love the picture of all 3 furkids! They posed purrfectly!! 😀
Wow! You too on the 5K! Ya’all are neverending, hehe! Well done, Judy, especially with the dogwalks and getting out there for active recovery! You’re a better woman than I, 😀

    1. Bandit is very content. Maybe a little too content. We caught him happily chewing through Mr. Judy’s sock yesterday (which is Mr. Judy’s fault for leaving it within his reach).

Thankfully I caught him before he ate the whole thing!

  7. I’m not sure what temperature I would draw the line at-I did a turkey trot a couple of years ago where the temp before the wind chill was 22 degrees….it was cold but I loved it! And I love the pictures of all of your furbabies 🙂

      1. I will run into single digits depending on the weather. But up here, there’s not a whole lot of choice!

Which is why I have a treadmill & will no doubt be on it this Thursday (supposed to be negative temps around the time I get up).
