This week was my last race of the season. Always a fun one!
The weather was just so nice & warm almost the entire week . . . right up until the day of the race, of course. Did I mention it’s a night race?
I’m joining up with Holly of Hoho Runs and Tricia of Misssippipiddlin to recap last week.
You don’t have to be a runner to join in & tell us how your week went! So how was my running last week?
- Monday: Dogwalk, 5 miles easy, YFR Foundation postrun
- Tuesday: Dogwalk, Rockin’ Body Abs, Lean & Lovely, Yoga Journal PM Routine
- Wednesday: YFPR Align & Alleviate, Easy 5 mile grocery store run, YFR Foundation postrun
- Thursday: Dog walk, Dance Yourself Thin WU, Lean & Lovely
- Friday: YFPR Strengthen & Stabilize, Dogwalk
- Saturday: Dogwalk, Last Run 5k, Yoga for Runners Foundation postrun
- Sunday: YFPR Strengthen & Stabilize, dogwalk
Mileage: 13.1
Still Streaking
#yogastreak, that is.
There does seem to always be one day a week I can’t get to it until the evening and I’m simply too exhausted. #notbeatingmyselfup — I’m getting in a lot more yoga!
I do YFR (Yoga for Runners) Foundation segment often, but I’ve found myself throwing in pigeon, cat/dog, and child’s pose in place of tadasana.
Running update
Running is still going pretty well. Lots of stress, so I run it off, but there’s no pressure with no real races looming.
I deliberately ran into the early evening this week so I could take a gander at the Christmas lights in the neighborhood. The warm weather was just a bonus.
Ran my last 5k of the year, also my slowest, but it was always meant to be a fun run and it was just that. I’ll recap it later.
Chester update
He was doing much better right up until Friday this week. The new settings for the laser seem to help, but oddly enough the acupuncture seemed to negatively effect him.
He let me sleep later most mornings, but I’m still very, very tired. Stress, too many nights with too little sleep, the short days — which are going to start to get longer, thank God!
I am drinking tea like it’s my job!

Weekend Favorites
Last Run. It’s just a fun race, I knew a lot of people there (although finding them was hit or miss), the fireworks, the lights.
I ran into Michele, a friend of a friend I met at the Jingle Bell 5k, and we exchanged emails. I talked about my USAFit group and she’d been talking to one of the ladies I run with about it earlier — running is a small world!
Do you have a favorite holiday themed race?
Nice job with all that yoga! Glad you enjoyed your 5k- its a good time of year to do a fun, care-free holiday race I think! Hope you have a great week:)

Yay for yoga! I’m glad you enjoyed your last race of the year. Give Chester a belly rub for me.

I always enjoy that “race — in the snow, in the cold, whatever Mother Nature throws at us.
Chester will happily take a belly rub. 🙂 Unfortunately he also collapsed again this morning; always very disturbing. I’ve been trying to carry him up & down stairs as much as possible (thank God he’s a little dog) but it’s not always possible.

It is hard to stay focused without pace plans – or I have found this apparent without a “schedule” to stick to. Good thing my next raining schedule starts next week!

Glad Chester is holding on.
I’ve been running after work so I can run through he park but they will be ending soon and I will home after Wed.
Yes, that race is fun. It’s funny that it was warm before and after the race.

I wish we had more seasonal races here. But there are none where I live. My next one is end of January…. I have never raced in the evening, I don’t like running in the dark. Sorry about Chester.

Night races are difficult because of figuring out eating, but I love not having to wear sunglasses!

Yay for the yogi streak! I’m actually looking up exercises for the hips since that is something that bothered me after my long run. But then again I think If something didn’t bother me after 20 miles, I’d be dead right?! Glad you enjoyed your last run of the year, I saw some pictures over the weekend, looks like yall had a great time! Happy Holidays to you and your clan Judy! 🙂

Happy holidays, Trish. Do you have yoga for runners? There’s a 20 minute routine on it I do a lot. Also search YouTube for strength running’s ITB Rehab routine.

We don’t have many holiday themed races. Last year, I got lost at the 12ks of Christmas race. They didn’t mark the course, AT ALL. It’s probably why they didn’t have it this year. Horrible. I won overall female. HA HA — don’t be impressed it was tiny without any high school track stars or young fasties. Congrats on the yoga streak. I hope you (and Chester) have a wonderful week. I appreciate you linking, Judy.

I would probably still be out there running! Holly, you’re too modest about your times.

I have been working SO much this month, it seems the majority of my runs (most of which are Streak runs) have been in the evening. I have been able to see a lot of Christmas lights while in my running shoes, but do miss the winter sunlight! We don’t have any snow (yet….#knockonwood), so the temps have been pretty mild on most days. Glad to hear Chester is hanging in there 😉

Yesterday was just really awkward. I had a chiro appt in the morning, an eye dr appt in the afternoon & then had to go to a drugstore — and there just wasn’t enough time before or in between to run.
